nVision - Issues and Resolutions

Issue: Registry not updated for nVision
E-NV: Troubleshooting nVision client logon issue not configured properly machine [ID 640433.1]

Symptoms

Sometimes users might receive an error when trying to launch nVision on the 2-tier/3-tier client machine.  They have already done a workstation install, but still can't get nVision to launch.
Common errors are:
'Ps/nVision is not configured properly for this machine'
'Assertion Succeeded...'
Solution
First thing is that a user should do an Install Workstation.  If doing an Install Workstation doesn't clear up the problem, they could try registering the nVision DLL's:
You can do this from the following:
Start>Run
Type in your pshome path all the way to the psnvs.exe then do a space /register.  Below is an example:
H:\MSS\E881G7YP\bin\client\winx86\psnvs.exe /register
When this runs it should pop up and then disappear after complete.  If any errors are encountered, the following could be tried.
Here is the instructions for correcting nvision client issues for a particular user.. (Notice that it says local admin user, well if you correct it for local admin, it should then work for any other user on that machine)

1) Download Regmon from www.sysinternals.com
2) Run the regmon utility on the users machine (logged in as local administrator account)
3) When it starts up, type in "psnvs.exe" in the include filter field. Check all the Log options, hit ok
4) go into Start-Run, and in the run command type in <your_ps_home>\bin\client\winx86\psnvs.exe /register
5) Save the log generated in the regmon utility, and search for "ACCDENIED"
6) For the keys that have generated this status, go into regedt32, and navigate to the same key in the registry
7) Check the permissions and make sure that local system admin has access to that key.
8) Repeat this for all accdenied messages
9) Repeat the process of running psnvs.exe /register again, and keep doing this until the psnvs.exe /register runs successfully without erroring out.
